The Challenge
The client wanted the ability to re-order staff and apply filters if necessary. They also wanted the directory to be formatted a specific way in line with their organizations aesthetic. Although there is an out-the-box personnel web-part available within SharePoint this didn’t meet our requirements. Therefore it was apparent a bespoke solution would need to be conceived utilizing by utilizing the companies underlying directory, and using our skill sets as Power Platform Specialists to create a front-end interface using Power Apps.
Our Approach & Solution
We first evaluated options for conceiving the directory, as the client wanted a particular format the out-the-box SharePoint contacts web-part would not suffice. We agreed to build the directory using Power Apps, which enabled us to control the aesthetic features such as object placement within the directory. Furthermore we were able to better construct the ordering feature from an application by interacting with the underlying Microsoft directory.
